Representative Cases

Maryland has a cap on the amount of non-economic damages that can be awarded. Currently this amount is less than $900,000 in claims involving health care providers, where there is more than one wrongful death beneficiary as plaintiff. The amount is less if there is only a claim by the victim, their estate and/or one wrongful death beneficiary. Each case's value is dependent on the facts, law, defenses and other applicable factors.
